DYK tanks are built so that low maintenance can be enjoyed throughout their life. The tanks are built with concrete, a durable material that never corrodes and does not require coatings when in contact with water or the environment. So, that means your DYK tank does not need to be coated on either the interior or exterior and does not call for routine maintenance.

Not only does the concrete material itself need little maintenance, but DYK techniques, such as vertical prestressing, have been designed to prevent maintenance as well. Vertical prestressing minimizes cracks and leakage. Prestressing counteracts the differential temperature and dryness loads that a tank corewall experiences. The tank walls are wet on the inside and dry on the outside and the temperature varies between the two sides. If not properly accounted for, these moisture and temperature differentials will cause a tank's wall to bend and crack. DYK prestressing techniques counteract these forces in both the vertical and horizontal directions, and diminish subsequent cracking and leakage. All DYK prestressed strands have an automated shotcrete cover coat and are galvanized to provide corrosion protection.
